Each daily stage has an altitude profile
which graphically depicts the relative
altitude gains for the day. These graphs
show the absolute altitude gains, but not
how the road climbs up to that altitude. In
other words, the road does not climb up
those really steep sections; it winds back
and forth up switchbacks that go at an
easier grade. The altitude profiles are most
useful for showing when you will be going up
and when you will be going down, not
necessarily how difficult the riding will be.
